Excessive daytime sleepiness can be managed by improving sleep hygiene, maintaining a regular sleep schedule, and addressing underlying causes such as narcolepsy, sleep apnea, or insomnia. Lifestyle changes such as regular exercise, exposure to natural light, and limiting caffeine or alcohol are beneficial.

In cases where nonpharmacological measures are insufficient, Modafinil, a nootropic and wakefulness-promoting agent, may be prescribed. It enhances alertness and cognitive performance by modulating neurotransmitters such as dopamine and orexin. However, Modafinil should only be used under medical supervision, as improper use or overreliance can mask underlying sleep disorders and cause side effects.
